Buying or selling a home can be a very stressful experience. A good realtor can guide you through the more mundane tasks you need to do to get the best deal for you and your family. Although it is not hard to find local realtors, making sure you’re picking a good one is a little more difficult.
Don’t Fall for Flashy Signs
Just because a realtor has a fancy advertisement on a park bench or local bus doesn’t mean that he or she is the perfect realtor for you. Don’t fall for flashy signs and gimmicks. Though these realtors may in fact be excellent, check their credentials instead of their advertisements.
Don’t Rule out the Little Guys
Just because a realtor doesn’t have large ad space or a fancy office doesn’t mean that he or she won’t work hard for you. Spend some time talking to newer realtors who are looking to make a name for themselves. You may quickly find they are willing to work harder for less and are able to utilize their furnished homes much more efficiently.
Ask Around
Check with neighbors, friends and family and see who they’ve used as a realtor. Be sure to speak with people in the area you are buying or selling who have dealt with a realtor recently. Ask questions regarding how far their realtor was willing to go for their satisfaction and if the expense was worth it.
Do Your Own Research
Even if you are going to use a realtor, don’t go into the process uneducated or you may find yourself being ripped off. Find out for yourself what other houses are going for and keep this information with you. Buying or selling a home is a big investment and you want to be as knowledgeable as possible when your property and money are on the line.
